Interactive Mind Games

Joan and John, our third year interactive design students from Catalonia are working on an interesting project, using only the power of your mind! Using a head sensor, Arduino and some LED’s your level of concentration or brain power is recorded as an output. I already know what they are going to hook it up to, but I can only tell you its shocking. Great stuff lads.

Goodbye Kristian

Well done to Kristian from Bletchly College, he has just completed his first week works experience at the Studio. Keep up the good work, we will be keeping an eye on you.

Kinect Night

Hacking the Kinect seems to be the “in thing” at the moment so we thought we would have a go! Connecting the camera to a mac was easy, doing anything with the data was not. Flash, Box2d physics engine and the Kinect where all set to merge beautifully but  then 1.30 am rolled in and it was time to catch up on some sleep. Still work in progress, so when we have it all up and working we will post up the process, there are some great resources out there.

Raising Aspirations

We have been asked to develop a site and brand for the “Raising Aspirations Convention 2011″. Organised by Lincolnshire County Council, the event will be held on Tuesday 28th June at the University of Lincoln from 9.30am to 2.30pm.  It will be open to all students in Years 9 and 10.  Every school in Lincolnshire is welcome at the event – we are already experimenting with Flash and live Twitter feeds so watch this space!

Yell Gone Wrong

Checked our new Yellow Pages online advert this morning – there seems to have been some sort of major mistake with the details – 1. Our phone number is completely wrong. 2. The Images I sent for upload have been replaced with 3 random photos – it looks like we’re stuck in the early nineties and specialise in club flyers for stretch limo companies and karaoke bars. When trying to log in and change the details I’m greeted with an error page. Nice one Yell – sort it out please!

Workshop with Hellicar & Lewis

Jim organised a real treat for our interactive design students at the University of Lincoln today, bringing in interaction design agency Hellicar & Lewis, check out  www.hellicarandlewis.com.

An inspiring talk and testing set of workshops from Joel Gethin Lewis and Pete Hellicar kept everyone, including us, thinking laterally. A great day with some really interesting ideas, I cant wait to see what the students will produce now?

Spring Clean

After a brief discussion about a changing in the studio upstairs, I came in on Friday and voilà, a new layout! I think Mike and Jamesy must have been fed up with sitting next to me. At least now its easy to see what everyone is working on. Thanks lads.
